Antacid Uses for the temporary relief of heartburn acid indigestion due to acid reflux. Not indicated for the treatment of peptic ulcers. Directions Chew 2 to 4 tablets four times a day or as directed by a physician. Tablets should be taken after meals and at bedtime or as needed. for best results follow by a half glass of water or other liquid. DO NOT SWALLOW WHOLE. Warnings Do not take more than 16 tablets in a 24-hour period or 16 tablets daily for more than 2 weeks, except under the advice and supervision of a physician. Do not use this product except under the advice and supervision of a physician if you are on a sodium-restricted diet. Each GAVISCON tablet contains approximately 0.8 mEq sodium.
